The Leader of the Nigerian Senate, Victor Ndoma-Egba says the National Assembly has given the executive arm of government all the necessary legal backing to fight terrorism and other forms of insecurity in Nigeria.

Senator Ndoma-Egba told the media in Calabar, capital of the southern state of Cross River, that the Federal Government was doing everything possible to solve the security problem.

He expressed the belief that the current security challenges in the country would soon be a thing of the past. He said Nigeria had in the past witnessed similar situations like the Maitasine uprising in the North, militancy, and kidnapping in the South, which he said all faded away.

The Senate Leader also spoke of the possibility of creating more states in Nigeria.
He pointed out however that creation of states involves stringent constitutional procedures.
