A combined team of security agencies has recovered 10 AK 47 rifles, 26 magazines, 106 pieces of ammunition and 7 Bags of Fertilizer after a shootout between soldiers, mobile police and the suspected members of the Boko Haram sect at Mariri, some few kilometers away from Kano city.

The Kano state police Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Majiya says the items were seized after a gun battle with the Boko Haram at Unguwar Mariri Gado in Kano.

An eye witness says the battle between the Police and the security agencies lasted for about 7 hours before the suspected Boko Haram members were over powered.

Mala Hussaini Adamu is resident of the area and told our correspondent that because of the noise of Rocket propelled grenades and gun shots, they could not sleep throughout Monday night.

When our correspondent Dan Azumi Lere visited the scene, he saw a fake grave where the suspected Boko Haram members hid a bag containing over 20 AK47 guns, and the scattered brains of one of Boko Haram members in one of the Rooms.

As at the time of filing this report people had deserted the area to unknown destinations.
