President Jonathan meets with Sultan of Sokoto on bombings

The Sultan of Sokoto, who is the President of Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, Saad Abubakar has condemned the various attacks in different parts of the country on Sunday describing it as un-Godly.

He made the condemnation shortly after a closed door meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja, on the security challenges facing the country.

State House correspondents asked him about the meeting and the decision reached to solve the crises.
He reiterated the commitment of the Muslim leaders to the peace and stability of the country.

Sultan Saad, who is the President of Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, said it was a conflict between evil and good people.

“I want to assure all Nigerians that there is no conflict between Muslims and Christians, between Islam and Christianity,” .

“It’s a conflict between evil people and good people. The good people are more than the evil ones, so the good people must come together to defeat the evil ones, and that is the message.”

The Islamic leader said government has pledged to look into the reports of various committees set up on various crises in the country.

Also, the Spanish Government has expressed sorrow and condemnation of the bomb attacks on Christmas Day, against several churches in the cities of Madala, Jos, Gadaka and Damaturu, which resulted in several deaths.

Spain said in a statement in Abuja that sincerely condoled with the President and people of Nigeria, as well as the families of the victims.

The statement also expressed the Spanish Government’s solidarity and support to Nigeria in the fight against terrorism and in its determination to hunt down the perpetrators of these attacks.

It will be recalled that the Islamic sect Boko Haram bombed Churches on Christmas day in some parts of northern Nigeria, killing over forty people.
