Police Logistics Boosted For Efficiency

The Nigerian Police has acquired 29 more operational vehicles to combat illegal importation of arms and ammunition into the country.
While receiving the vehicles in Abuja , the capital, Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ogbonnaya Onovo, called on well meaning Nigerians to support the efforts of the government in checking crimes and other social vices.
In his words, ''the operational vehicles are specifically acquired to boost the effectiveness of the National Task Force to combat the incidences of illegal importation of contraband goods, arms, ammunition and light weapons.''
The Chairman of the Police Task Force , Retired Major General Collins Ihekire, appealed for more support and cooperation to enhance the task force's capability to discharge its duties.
The task force, which was inaugurated on July the sixteenth, 2010, was set up in the spirit of Private-Public-Partnership to fight crime in Nigeria .
Our Correspondent reports that 14 Hilux Pick-Up, 11 (Eighteen- Seater] Toyota buses and Four Land Cruiser Jeeps were handed over to the National Task Force .
