Police arrest suspects over crisis in Taraba State

One hundred and twenty five persons have been arrested in connection with the crisis in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State in Northern Nigeria.
The state Police Commissioner, Jubril Adeniji said the arrested suspects were observed to have played active roles in the crisis and would soon be charged.
“Weapons recovered from the suspects include assorted guns and live ammunitions, among other items,” Adeniji said.
He promised that the officers would continue to discharge their duties diligently.
Meanwhile, the acting Governor, Alhaji Garba Umar has attributed violence in the state to lack of job opportunities for the teeming youths.
At a stakeholders meeting in the state capital Jalingo, Alhaji Umar said relevant measures would be put in place to halt the ugly situation.
He also said the government had placed mechanisms to determine the causes of recent conflicts in some parts of the state and bring those responsible, to book.
