Goke Alade – Osogbo

The government of Osun State in South West Nigeria is set to revolutionize its education sector with the provision of personal computers for secondary school students across the state.

The Osun State governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, announced this in Osogbo, the state capital at an interactive session with the Press and the  people of the state , tagged   ‘ OGBENI TILL DAYBREAK’,   as part of activities to mark the administration’s first year in office.

Governor Aregbesola said a computer manufacturing company would be established in Osogbo to produce the computer hardware in which will be installed educational software on all secondary school subjects as well as past questions of the certificate examinations, with each student assigned a coded number to study the subjects of their choice.

He said efforts were being made by his government and China computer manufacturing company to design special computers which would be powered by solar energy to check the problem of power failure.

Eradicating mass failures

The governor said the measure would go a long way in arresting the current of mass failure of students in various examinations in the state.

According to him, one hundred and fifty thousand computers have already been acquired out of which one hundred and thirty thousand would be distributed to secondary school students across the state.
