Observers commend INEC on Kaduna State election
Accredited domestic election observers have commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the conduct of the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in Kaduna State, one of the Northern Nigerian states, where gubernatorial election was postponed due to post-election violence.
The spokesperson of the observers, Dr Awwal Aliyu, of the Northern Patriotic Front, said that the conduct of the election was free, fair and violent-free.
Aliyu commended the efforts, sincerity and transparency of INEC and the electorate for conducting themselves in an orderly manner during the exercise.
Necessary voters’ education
He urged the Commission to embark on a continuous and timely voter education at the grassroots.
Aliyu appealed to the Nigerian government to provide adequate funds for INEC to achieve more credible, free and fair elections in the future.
The spokesperson also appealed for more logistics for domestic election observers to assist them in discharging their duties effectively.
