The two Nigerians and their fellow participants who featured in the finals of the 2011 M—Net Reality show, “Big Brother Africa Amplified” have been enjoined to remember their humble beginning at all times and plow back part of their winnings into the development of their individual communities.
Speaking at a reception hosted by the Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg, the Consul General, Okey Emuchay said this was important because after emerging finalists, they have attained a level in life which stars them out as ambassadors of their various communities and countries.
Point of convergence for Africa
Mr. Emuchay urged them to use part of their prize for the less privileged, who does not require much to be satisfied.
He described the reality show as a point of convergence for Africa with opportunity to learn from each other while it also afforded those who watched the show on television the opportunity to learn about other African nations.
The Consul General said it is common for some communities to stereotype others but that the important thing would be to treat everyone as a human being because no one country has the monopoly of criminals and criminality.
Reacting to the victory, Miss Karen Igho, one of the two winners of the show thanked everyone who helped her achieve victory particularly Nigerians who she described as very entertaining and always supporting her at all times.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Nigerian High Commissioner, Mr. Bassey Archibong; enjoined Miss Igho and her counterparts to be level headed at all times, add good virtues to their exploits and not to be carried away by their victory which he described as the beginning of their future success.
Two Nigerians, Karen Igho and Malvina Longpet got to the finals of the yearly Big Brother Africa reality TV-show which has seen Nigerians win in the last three editions.
