Nigeria Urged to fulfil commitment on food security
Lawal Hamidu, Abuja
Nigerian Government has been urged to fulfil its commitment to the Maputo declaration on food security that calls for an increased public investment in agriculture.
The Associate Country Director Oxfam GB in Nigeria Mr Tunde Ojei made the call in the launching of GROW Campaign in Abuja, an initiative to strengthen food production in Nigeria.
Mr. Ojei said despite the effort being made, the minimum investment of ten percent of national budget on agriculture had not been achieved affecting the increase in food production.
The country director said that the programme, under the auspices of Voice for Food Security (VFS), was to collaborate with other stakeholders to proper solutions and strategies to improve food security around the world.
