Nigeria has potential to realise Vision 20:2020 -Turkish envoy

The Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Ali Rafat Koksal, has called on the Nigerian Government to focus on human capital development towards the realisation of Vision 20: 2020 for Nigeria to become one of the top 20 economies in the world.

Koksal said this in his Sallah message to the government and people of Nigeria at the Eid-el-Kabir celebration held at Nigerian-Turkish International College, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The Celebration

Reports say about 1,000 cattle were slaughtered, sliced, packaged and distributed to the underprivileged and orphanages in Abuja and other states of the federation by the Turkish International College to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The envoy said “we had similar problems Nigeria is facing but now Turkey is the 16th economy of the world. From my observation as a foreigner in Nigeria, I believe Nigeria has the potential to realise the Vision 20: 2020. Your future is so bright.”

The envoy said the real richness of Nigeria was that of its people, having different cultures, ethnicities, and religions.

The way forward

He added that the greatest asset of Nigeria was not oil, saying this factor made it imperative for the government to increase investment in human capital development, which was critical to the development of any nation.
He said, apart from investment in education in Nigeria, the Turkish government had planned to establish hospitals beginning from next year to boost the nation’s human development index.

Turkey currently has 17 colleges spread across the country, one university and a hospital.
