Nigeria’s First Lady holds etiquette retreat with women

The wife of the Nigerian President, Mrs Patience Jonathan is holding a three-day retreat on Etiquette, Protocol and Administration in Obudu, Cross-River State, aimed at enabling participants conform to global best practices and ultimately build the nation.
Mrs Jonathan, while declaring open the three-day retreat, said that governments at all levels would benefit from it.
Retreat objectives
“The main reason we are all here is to learn new approaches that are in conformity with international standards and best practices.
“This training will aid our husbands who are in power. This is the only way we can assist our husbands and the nation because if we all know what to do, Nigeria will be the better for it,’’ she said.
She said the importance of the retreat could not be over-emphasized as Nigeria currently seeks positive transformation in all aspects of national life.
“It is therefore important that if we must get it right, there must be a radical transformation in the way we do things,” she stressed.
The host of the retreat and the wife of the Cross River State Governor, Mrs. Obioma Liyel-Imoke, in her address of welcome said that Obudu boasts of a conducive for such trainings.
She appreciated the foresight of the president’s wife for organizing the retreat, aand expressed the conviction that it would go a long way in developing the capacity of the participants.
The retreat on Etiquette, Protocol and Administration, is organised for wives of governors, deputy governors wives, wives of service chiefs and other top government officials.
