Mark's convoy in fatal auto crash, one dead, two injured
The convoy of the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark on Sunday along Otukpo-Makurdi road in Benue State had a fatal accident.
The accident claimed the life of one police officer with two others seriously injured.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Senate President, Mr. Paul Mumeh said a heavy duty truck belonging to Dangote group of companies ran into the convoy at Otukpo , Benue State killing one of the drivers and injuring two others.
The dead driver according to him is Inspector Honourable Abah, who has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, mortuary while the injured ones; corporal James Ogwuche and constable Rasheed Quadiri are receiving medical attention at the same hospital.
Mumeh said The convoy which was Abuja bound had barely departed when the truck loaded with Dangote cement with registration number Jigawa, XC 900 GRK, rammed into the convoy.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), he added, helped to evacuate the victims to the hospital while the driver of the truck was said to have fled into the bush.
He however disclosed that the personal physician to the president of the Senate, Dr.David said the injured officers were responding to treatment.
