The Lagos State government has donated six patrol gun boats to the Nigerian police high command for the marine police unit.

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, who presented the boats, promised to complement the gesture with additional boats and patrol vehicles.

He gave the assurance that the State Security Trust Fund would give the necessary support to ensure that Lagos was not only protected on land and air, but also on the sea.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Hafiz Ringim handed over the six marine patrol gun boats to the Lagos State Police Command.

Special Security

Ringim reiterated that Lagos State deserved a special security attention, owing to its strategic relevance as the economic nerve centre of Nigeria.
Governor Fashola thanked the Inspector General for keeping faith with Lagos State and the officers of the command, in releasing the gunboats that would complement and enhance the protection of Lagos waterways.
