Labour urges government to sign minimum wage into law
Helen Skok Jok, Abuja
The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has again urged the Federal Government to ensure that the New National Minimum wage is passed into law before the April general elections.
NLC President, Mallam Abdulwahed Omar, made the call in Abuja at a media briefing at the end of its National Administrative Council meeting.
He said although the NLC has been reliably informed that the bill is before the Executive, there was need to re-emphasize the urgency in ensuring its passage into law before the April polls.
The Central Working Committee of the congress is due to meet on March 28 to review the state of the National Minimum wage and take a stand on its next action.
Commendation
The NLC commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for the machinery put in place so far to ensure free and fair elections in the country and called on the federal government to allow equal playing ground for all political parties during the electioneering campaign.
