Labour Movement in Nigeria mourns with Norway

The Nigeria Labour Movement has expressed shock over the massacre of innocent, peace-loving Norwegians on Friday July 22, 2011.

Condolence message

In a statement signed by its Acting General Secretary, Mr Owei Lakemfa, the NLC said it was unimaginable that anybody could contemplate an atrocity of such a grand scale and set off to carry it out.

Mr Lakemfa described as incomprehensible the fact that a public office could be the target of a bomb attack, as well as a youth resort, which was also chosen as the theatre for such senseless and needless massacre of scores of innocent, unarmed people, who looked forward to a bright future.

He expressed that Nigerian workers mourn with Norway, a peace-living haven for social justice that has contributed immensely to human development across the world.

The Labour Movement prayed “that Norwegians in general are granted the fortitude to bear this incomprehensible massacre of the innocent.

At this moment of inconsolable grief, Nigerian workers stand with the Norwegian people and pray that such dastardly act is never repeated, the statement added.
