Kosovo to invest in Akwa Ibom state

The Akwa Ibom State international Airport has earned yet another commendation, this time, it is from the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Behgjey Paccony, for being of the highest international standard.
The Deputy Prime Minister, who was speaking during a
courtesy call on the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio,
also said that his country was desirous of a strong partnership with
Akwa Ibom State in the industrial revolution of the State.
The Deputy Prime Minister who expressed satisfaction with the transformation of Akwa Ibom State by Governor Akpabio said “We are
here to look around and see how we can participate in what you are doing because we appreciate all the good things you are doing for your
people.”
He particularly commended the standard of the Akwa Ibom International Airport, where he landed before visiting other completed projects in
the state, saying it was beautiful and well-equipped.
Mr. Behgjey Paccony expressed Kosovo’s desire to take advantage of the abundant resources of Akwa Ibom State and build a rewarding partnership between Kosovo and the State.
The Akwa Ibom State Governor Chief Godswill Akpabio who welcomed the
Deputy Prime Minister to Uyo, said the State has so much potentials, but with little in terms of industries.
The Governor said, “Akwa Ibom State Government is looking forward to
major investors to come to the state and I hope they will be
interested in partnering in the development of the second phase of the
Ibom International Airport which has Maintenance Repair and Overhaul
facilities”.
Chief Akpabio hinted that the State Government has opened up discussions with Air France for partnership in the development of the Ibom Airport.
The Governor further told the Deputy Prime Minister that already the State Government has applied for Free Trade Processing zone noting that the Nigeria Port Authority has agreed to partner in the development of the Deep Sea Port at Ibaka in Mbo Local Government area of the state which has prospects for a refinery, fertilizer plant and a fabrication yard.
