Kano State NLC suspends strike

                
The Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has announced the suspension of its 5 days minimum wage strike.

Rationale for suspention

The Kano NLC Chairman, Yunusa Dangoguwa, said the suspension of the strike was as a result of the appeal by stakeholders and a written commitment by the state government to respond to their demand positively.

Temporary suspension

According to the NLC chairman, the union ‘s state executive, after its meeting resolved to temporarily suspend the strike with effect from Friday 16th September 2011.

However the union has given the state government seven days to comply with its commitment.

He added that workers would go back to their strike on Tuesday 19th September 2011 if government failed to comply with their demand.

He directed workers in Kano state to resume work and wait for further directives from the union before or after 7 days as demanded by the Kano state government.

Mr Dangoguwa commended the state and other affiliated unions for their support.
