The Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan has sworn in two new Special Advisers.

They are Professor Sylvester Monye, who is the Special Adviser to the President on Performance Monitoring and Evaluation and Professor Nwanze Okidegbe, Economic Adviser to the President.

President Jonathan, while swearing in the new Special Advisers, stressed the need for a strong economy and charged them to play key roles in strengthening the economy.

He stated that without a strong economy, the government could not provide health services, education, roads and other social needs of the population and would not be reckoned with at the global level.

Until this appointment, Prof. Sylvester Monye was Secretary of the National Planning Commission and the Economic Team, while Prof. Nwanze Okidegbe was a Senior Consultant with the World Bank and United Nations’ Development Programme.
