The Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, is on a working visit to Rwanda, Ethiopia and Ghana.

Jonathan departed Abuja on Wednesday for Kigali, the Rwandan capital where he was scheduled to meet with Rwandan President Paul Kagame for bilateral talks.

According to a statement issued in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, bilateral talks and signing of a communiqué to formalise all agreements reached between Nigeria and Rwanda would be the high point of his visit to the
country.

The statement said the talks, to be held in President Paul Kagame’s office in the Presidential Palace, Urug-wiro, would be preceded by a visit to the Genocide Memorial Site, in Kigali, where Jonathan would lay a wreath.

The two leaders would, thereafter, address a joint press conference before Jonathan’s departure to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Ethiopia

The statement said in Ethiopia, President Jonathan would also hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, address a joint press conference and meet with a cross-section of the Nigerian community residing in the country.

Ghana

While in Ghana, Jonathan would be conferred with an honorary doctorate degree by the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, as part of the celebration of its Golden Jubilee, and would later be hosted to a State Banquet by President John Atta-Mills at The Castle, Accra.
