Election postponement, wise decision – Jonathan

Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan, has said that though the postponement of the National Assembly election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to April 4 was regretable, it was a wise decision on the part of the commission to resolve the logistics problems.
President Jonathan stated this in Bayelsa State, South-south Nigeria, while fielding questions from newsmen following the cancellation of the election.
He commended Nigerians for their patriotism and assured them that the government will do all in its power to make sure that the election was credible, free and fair.
“Nigerians should see the sacrifices they have made as a necessity for the interest of the nation,” he said
Jonathan called on Nigerians to exercise patience with the commission to enable them get it right and conduct acceptable elections.
He also said that he would do all within his powers to ensure that the commission conducts an internationally acceptable election.
