Jonathan appoints 18 principal aides
Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of 18 principal aides to assist him in discharging his constitutional obligations to the nation.
A statement by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, in Abuja, on Wednesday, said that Chief Mike Oghiadomhe retained his job as the Chief of Staff to the President.
According to the statement, others who retained their positions are Mr Mohammed Kachalla Abubakar, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Mr Hassan Tukur, Principal Secretary to the President.
Dr Tunji Olagunju was re-appointed as Special Adviser to the President on NEPAD, and Mr Oronto Douglas, Special Adviser on Research and Strategy.
The newly appointed aides are Prof. Abubakar Sambo, Special Adviser on Energy; Mrs Sarah Akuben Pane, Special Adviser, Social Development; and Mrs Sarah Jibril, Special Adviser, Ethics and Values.
Mrs Joy Emordi, who was in the last senate, was appointed Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters; Kingsley Kuku, Special Adviser, Niger Delta Affairs; and Dr Pius Olakunle Osunyikanmi, Special Adviser, International Relations.
Others are Prof. Dan Adebiyi, Special Adviser, Special Duties; Dr Rueben Abati, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity; and Mrs Asma’u Abdulkadir, Special Adviser, Gender Issues.
Also on the list are Sullivan Nwakpo Special Adviser, Technical Matters; Yakubu Abdullahi, Special Adviser, Political Matters (Office of the Vice President).
Mr Bashir Sufyan was appointed as Special Adviser, Legal Matters (Office of the Vice President); and Sen. Isaiah Ballat, Special Adviser, Special Duties (Office of the Vice President).
The statement said that the presidential aides would be sworn in on Thursday in Abuja.
