Jonathan hails triumphant Flying Eagles
Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan, has congratulated the Flying Eagles on their victory in the finals of the 2011 African Youth Football Championships played on Sunday in Johannesburg.
The President in a statement praised the artistry, doggedness and resilience shown by the Flying Eagles in their hard-fought 3-2 victory over Cameroon’s under-20 team.
The President said that the Flying Eagles had made the entire nation proud with their exploits and ultimate triumph in South African.
He assured the team and its handlers that the Federal Government will continue to give them the necessary support in their quest to win more laurels for Nigeria.

Nwofor Uche of the Nigerian side scored four goals to secure the highest goal scorer's Medal.
Cameroonian flamboyant right winger Salli Edgar was named Player of the tournament after his brilliant displays throughout the two-week tournament. He was the Indomitable Lions' leading scorer with two goals, including one in the final.
Egypt’s keeper Ahmed El-Shenawy won the FAIR player of the tournament award after a string of heroic performances as he managed to keep a clean sheet in four out of five games and conceded only one goal against Mali in the first round.
