Nigerians Plan Grand Reception For Jonathan In Ethiopia
Arrangements have been concluded for a rousing welcome for Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, who will arrive in Addis Ababa on Friday, for the African Union Summit.
The Charge d'Affairs at the Nigerian Embassy in Ethiopia , Mr. John Ejinaka, said that the embassy was in close contact with the Association of Nigerians living in Addis Ababa , to ensure a grand reception for the President.
Jonathan would meet members of the Nigerian community in Ethiopia at the Nigeria House.
“His engagements would start with the mini-summit of the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) on the situation in Cote d'Ivoire, which would be followed by the 29 th meeting of the NEPAD Heads of State and Government consultative committee,” Ejinaka said.
He said the President would, in addition to attending meetings of the summit, hold bilateral discussions with fellow African Presidents and leaders of international organisations such as the UN and the Commonwealth.
He said that Jonathan would participate in a briefing by Heads of State and Governments committee on Climate Change.
Jonathan, who is the ECOWAS chairman, is expected to co-chair the AU mini-summit on Cote d'Ivoire along with Dr. Jean Ping, the AU Commission Chairperson and Mr. Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
