Gambia commends Nigeria’s tourism industry on Africa’s integration

The Nigerian tourism industry has been commended for promoting Africa integration.
The Gambian Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Lang Yabou, stated this at the African Travel Market Exhibition, holding in Abuja.
He noted that most countries were earning more money in tourism activities than before, due to the relaxation of barriers.
The organiser of the African Travel Market, Mr. Ikechi Uko, said that the event which was the first to be held in Abuja, would create an atmosphere for speedy transaction of business and exchange of ideas.
The exhibition
He said that the event tagged" Bantaba" has the potential of boosting the Nigerian economy.
Mr. Uko noted that the Abuja exhibition was called Bantaba, to differentiate it from others held in Lagos and other places where they were known as "Akwaaba."
According to him, the next edition of the exhibition, to be held in Accra Ghana, would have a different African name.
The African Travel Market brought together tourism, aviation and hospitality practitioners across the globe.
A former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Keneth Oguakwa, praised the ATM initiative, noting that tourism should be the way to go for Africa, as it has the potential of boosting countries’ economy.
The Africa Travel Market Exhibition which started over eight years ago, has help practitioners to network and improve their businesses.
