Former Kano Governor denies links with Boko Haram

The Former Governor of Kano state , Ibrahim Shekarau has denied any links with Boko Haram as widely reported by some media organizations in the country.

Dr Ibrahim Shekarau made the statement at a Press Conference at his residence in Kano.

The former governor also denied the allegation against that him that he was arrested and detained by the security operatives in Nigeria.

He says based on his understanding and personal relationship with the state security service when he was the governor of Kano state,  he usually  visited them from time to time in order to share his views.

Shekarau also denied the allegation that he paid Boko Haram the sum of N10 Milliion monthly as salaries.

He challenged anybody to provide evidence of his involvement or link with such a group.

He also challenged his accusers to present evidence or go to the Kano state government House and find out whether there was any record indicating this.

On the allegation that he failed to give an honest declaration of assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau, Shekarau says it was false, adding that he does not have the kind of assets as claimed by the petitioners.

The former Kano state Governor says he is going to challenge the allegation before a court of law.
