US Delegates Emphasise Need For Presidential Debate

The US presidential Debate Delegation has emphasized on the importance of
presidential debate as a tool of achieving credible election, transparency and
accountability.
The delegation, which paid a courtesy call on the Director General of Voice of
Nigeria, Mallam Abukbakar Jijiwa, urged the media to create adequate publicity
that would spur the public interest on the importance of presidential debate.
The media's role
The leader of the delegation, Matt Dippell, noted that it was the
responsibility of the Nigerian media to initiate series of programs that would
assist Nigerians in making the right choice of candidate in the April polls.
Mallam Jijiwa, who is also the Chairman of the Broadcasting Organization
of Nigeria, said that the forth coming presidential debate in Nigeria was a
process that requires the contribution of every Nigerian.
He therefore urged the delegation to partner with the media to make the Nigeria
election a success.
