Community Radios To Get Automatic License

Community radio stations that meet the guidelines of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission will henceforth be issued automatic broadcast License.

The Nigeria government announced its approval of such a license at the opening of the 8 th Biennial Conference of Africa Broadcasters, holding in Abuja, Nigeria's capital.

President Goodluck Jonathan said that the broadcasting regulatory commission would not need to refer to the government, applications by community station that met the requirements of the law.

President Jonathan also announced plans to fast track the transition from Analog to Digital broadcasting by 2015, through providing legal instruments for the switch.
