AU Commission Impressed With Nigeria's Role In Africa The Chairperson of the AU Commission, Dr Jean Ping, has commended Nigeria for her leadership role in Africa.
Ping said this when he received the credentials of the newly appointed Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the AU, Mr Eineje Onobu.
He said Nigeria had been playing prominent role in the preservation and restoration of peace, security and stability in West Africa and the entire continent.
Ping, who expressed appreciation for the key role Nigeria plays in AU and its full support for the Commission's projects, assured Onobu of cooperation in the discharge of his assignment.
Onobu, who served as Nigeria's Ambassador to Ethiopia and the then OAU in 1999, said Nigeria, valued the important contribution made by the Commission towards the emergence of an African renaissance.
He promised to work closely with the Commission to further strengthen the excellent relations that exist between the AU and Nigeria.
Onobu took over from Mrs Nkoyo Toyo who resigned her position to contest election into the House of Representatives.
