Security Chiefs Urged To Protect Democracy Qasim Akinreti, Lagos
Security agencies in Nigeria have been urged to protect and promote democracy for sustainable growth of the country.
The Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Fasola stated this while addressing the new Air Officer Commanding Lagos Logistics, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar Na'sheu and the Flag Officer of the Western Command, Admiral Emmanuel Ogbor.
He said politicians and military personnel must work together to ensure that the citizens enjoy the dividends of democracy in all its ramifications.
The governor challenged the security operatives to protect lives and property in Nigeria 's commercial city of Lagos .
He pledged the readiness of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund to provide adequate logistics support to security agencies in the discharge of their duties of maintaining law and order.
The Air Force and Naval Officers pledged their commitments to safeguarding the Lagos waterways and to embark on air surveillance of the city to reduce violent crimes at sea, air and land.
