| Senate Call For Road Map For Aviation Management Obiora Ani, Abuja
The Nigerian Senate has urged the Minister of Aviation to submit a road map for the maintenance and management of Airports in Nigeria to President Goodluck Jonathan to forestall the continuing decay of facilities at the Airports.
This call followed the debate on the report of the Senate committee on Aviation on the power outage at the International Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos in May this year.
During the period both local and international flights were disrupted due to power outage at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, in Lagos.
The Senate also recommended that the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria, FAAN develops short and long term plans for equipment depreciation, replacement and maintenance program in the Airports in the country.
VON Senate Correspondent, Obiora Ani, reports that the apex law making body in Nigeria also suggested the intervention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC in the collection of debts owed by the airlines and its concessionaires.
