Nigeria's Boundary Commission Gets New Director General Helen Shokjok, Yaounde
Nigeria's President, Goodluck Jonathan, has approved the appointment of Dr. Muhammed Bose Ahmad, as the Director General of the National Boundary Commission, in Nigeria.
Untill his appointment; Dr. Ahmad was the Director, Inter-State Boundary in the Commission.
He takes over from Mr. Sadiq Marrafa Diggi, whose four year tenure, expired in November, last year.
Dr. Muhammed Ahmad's appointment takes effect from 4 th of March; 2011 and will last for a period of four years.
Profile
Before this new appointment, Dr. Ahmad was at various times, Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Nigeria/Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority, JDA 2005 to 2006.
On his return from his assignment in the JDA, Dr. Ahmad set up the Department for Regions Development transformation which led to the establishment of the Border Community Development Agency.
Between September 2008 and November 2010, he represented Nigeria in the African Union, AU, where he used his wealth of experience in boundary matters to help establish the AU Border Programme.
Dr. Ahmad had his first and Master's Degrees in history, from the Bayero University Kano and a Doctorate Degree also in history from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The new Director General is a Member of the National Institute (mni) having attended the Senior Executive Course of the National Institute for Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, near Jos, Plateau State in North Central Nigeria.
