Police in Kaduna, in the North-West of Nigeria, say they have foiled a major bombing attack in the city. This followed an explosion which killed one man and left another seriously injured.
The incident is said to have happened in the Mahuta suburb of Kaduna.
According to the Kaduna State Police Commissioner, Haruna John, the police rushed to the site of the explosion where they found the two men and some of the unexploded dynamite.
They then discovered a second sack of dynamite which they detonated. Two more sacks were found nearby in a house belonging to the injured man. These two sackfuls were also detonated.
All together, the police said they found more than 100 sticks of dynamite, enough to cause very serious damage and loss of life.
The Police Commissioner said, “It was only God that saved this city from the hands of these people because if these things were used where ever they are intended for, it would have been terrible.”
