President Frederique de Menezes of the Republic of Sao Tome & Principe and eight prominent Nigerians have won the 2010 Zik Prize in Leadership.
Among the winners are the Speaker of the House of Representative, Dimeji Bankole and three governors. The governors are: Babatunde Raji Fashola ( Lagos ), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) and Sule Lamido (Jigawa).
The other prominent Nigerians are; Julius Okojie (Executive Secretary, NUC), Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui Okauru (Chief Executive Officer, FIRS), Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, Secretary to the Government of the Federation) and Subomi Balogun, the Chairman, First City Monument Bank (FCMB).
While the President of Republic of Sao Tome & Principe and Bankole were selected for Political Leadership, Fashola, Amaechi and Lamido were chosen for Good Governance. Okauru and Okojie were selected for Professional Leadership.
Ahmed was chosen for Public Service while Balogun distinguished himself in Business Leadership.
The award ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, 24 th of February, 2011 in Abuja .
The Zik Prize in Leadership was set up in 1994 by the Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre (PPRAC), as part of the yearly activities in honour of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, the First President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
