Jonathan Promises Attention To National Security
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan says his administration will continue to offer capable and effective leadership while giving priority attention to national security.
President Jonathan made the pledge in a special message to the nation on Tuesday, on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad(SAW).
He said the government would pay more attention to the protection of lives and property as well as the rehabilitation and expansion of public infrastructure.
Imbibe good virtues
The president urged Nigerians, especially public office holders, to strive harder to live according to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad by imbibing the virtues of honesty, selflessness, sincerity, justice, equity and fairness in the performance of their duties.
He reaffirmed that government would give the Independent National Electoral Commission and the nation's security agencies all the logistics and support they require to deliver credible and violence-free polls in April.
The president urged Nigerians to play their part by being peaceful, law-abiding and refrain from malpractices during the elections.
