73 Million Voters For April Elections- INEC
Nigeria's Electoral Communication has released a certified register of voters showing that a total of 73,528,040 million Nigerians have been registered to vote in the April elections.
Speaking on Thursday in Abuja, INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega said that the release of the final register was in compliance with the requirement of the 2010 Electoral Act, which requires that the final register be released 30 days to the election.
Figures
Lagos State came top with 6,108069 , while Kano followed with 5,027,247 with Bayelsa State recording the least number of registered voters which was put at 591,870 by the commission.
Duplicate Registrations
The commission also said it detected more than 870,000 duplicate registrations.
Professor Jega said that some prominent politicians were involved in the multiple registrations and would be made known to the public with the aim of having them prosecuted in due time.
