American University of Nigeria gets international commendation Gloria Essien, Adamawa
The Cameroonian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Amb. Salahuddeen Ibrahim Abbas, has commended the remarkable progress recorded by the American University of Nigeria, Yola, in the last couple of years.
The ambassador, stated this when he led a team of ten Cameroonian officials to the University while in Adamawa State for a diplomatic meeting on interconnection of power between Nigeria and Cameroon.
Mr. Abbas, said that his visit to AUN was to update his country on the institution’s progress.
While receiving the delegates, Vice-President of AUN, Byron Bullock expressed the institution’s pleasure and pride at Cameroon’s friendship with the University and continued interest.
Assistant Vice President, Mr. Abba Tahir formally invited the High Commissioner to give a speech during the AUN Diplomat’s Leadership Series coming up later in the year.

Since AUN’s inauguration in 2005 several Cameroonian students have enrolled at the American University of Nigeria and the number has kept rising every year.
The University leaders have launched many recruitment campaign trips to several cities across Cameroon, including Garoua, Ngauondere, Bamenda, Doula, Buea and the capital city Yaounde. Also, several Camerounian professors have taught at AUN, including the current Dean of the School of Information Technology & Communications, Dr. Mathias Fonkam.
