The seminar, which will hold on December 2, will be opened by the president of the court, Hon Justice Gerard Niyungeko.

The objective of the court's visit to Nigeria is to enhance human rights protection by raising public awareness about the court, encourage the making of the declaration to allow individuals and NGOs access to the court, sensitise would-be applicants on how to access the court, its procedures, as well as encourage persons to request the court’s advisory opinions.

Nigeria is the ninth country where promotional activities are being undertaken by the court.

The seminar will bring together participants from government, the Judiciary, Nigerian Human Rights Commission, Academia, Media and Religious bodies.
