AfDB to focus on infrastructural development in Nigeria

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has said it will focus on on infrastructure development in Nigeria in the next three years.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) Resident Representative to Nigeria, Mr Ousmane Dore, made this known when he paid a courtesy call on the President, Africa Business Roundtable (ABR), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, in Abuja.

Dore stated that “from all the reports received from Tunis and elsewhere, there were indications that Nigeria needs to invest in infrastructure  to achieve the vision 202020 and the eight millennium  development goals.”

“This is where the bank is focusing its interest and in effect for the three years I will be here, the relationship will be on how to partner with the private sector to make sure that all the partners get in the bandwagon to bring the type of financing that will fill the gap needed for Nigeria to achieve the kind of infrastructure and development that will bring growth and reduce poverty,” he said.

The AfDB representative said that the bank would also partner with the African Business Roundtable to carry out some of its projects.

The president of the ABR, Alhaji Tukur, said that the bank and Nigeria had been in good partnership and were looking forward to working more with Mr Dore for the next three years. “We can all share our own objective of making sure that Nigeria is the engine of development in African with Nigeria coming out of a credible election, it is a good period for the bank to partner with the nation to drive its goals on development,” He said.

He assured Mr Dore of the commitment of the ABR to collaborate with the bank to achieve its goals.
