The simultaneous series of bomb attacks in Kano State, Northern Nigeria,  have led to the destruction of lives and properties, while a large number of policemen and civilians have sustained various degrees of injuries.

The bomb blast which rocked a number of Police stations including the office of the AIG Zone one, Mohammed Abubakar along BUK Road in Kano city has forced the state government to impose a 24 hour-curfew in Kano.

Areas hit in the attacks also include the zonal police headquarters and immigration building.

A statement by the police has so far put victims at seven.

“The police have commenced investigation and therefore use this medium to call for calm among the residents of Kano as police are doing their best to bring the situation under control,” it said.

Recent attacks have been blamed on the Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

Meanwhile, an investigative panel has been constituted to ascertain how suspected member of Boko Haram Sect, Kabiru Sokoto, escaped from police custody in Abuja.

He is the accused mastermind of the Christmas Day bombings on a Catholic church in Madalla, Niger State, which killed dozens.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Caleb Olubolade who stated this while answering questions from State House Correspondents said the Inspector General of Police, had since replied the query issued to him over the incident.

Mr. Olubolade said that the panel would critically examine and analyse the explanation of the Inspector General of Police.

He said  ``Justice will be done, and if anybody is found guilty of complicity in the incidence such a person will pay for it.”

``A time frame has been given to them, and at the end something will come out, so we should not preempt the committee,’’ he added.

The panel which was set up by the office of the National Security Adviser, has members from top military  and police hierarchy, top government officials and other security agencies.

The panel has one week to complete its assignment.
