Madagascar Names New
Prime Minister
A
new Prime Minister has been named in Madagascar. He is Colonel
Vital Albert Camille, who replaces Eugene Mangalaza.
Colonel Camille, in an address broadcast across the nation,
called on the opposition to work with the government.
He said his priorities were to deliver security and organise
elections.
The former Minister lost out in a power tussle between the
Madagascan leader Andry Rajoelina and former President Marc
Ravalomanana.
Mr. Rajoelina, a former DJ, came to power with military backing
earlier this year.
He overthrew Marc Ravalomanana after weeks of demonstrations
that left dozens dead.
Rajoelina announced just last week that a general election will
hold in March next year.
