Semi-Final Target For New Coach

The
Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has set a semi-final target
for the new coach to be hired for the country’s national team
the Super Eagles to this summer’s World Cup finals in South
Africa.
The Football authority in the country is at the moment screening
some coaches to replace Amodu Shuaibu who was dropped after the
Nations Cup in Angola.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, the Chairman of the Technical
Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, Taiwo Ogunjobi
said anybody who succeeds Amodu was expected to go beyond the
quarter final stage of the competition.
A panel, which included members of the Technical Committee of
the Nigeria Football Federation and the Director General of the
Nigerian Sports Commission, Patrick Ekeji has been interviewing
some of the short listed coaches for the vacant position of the
Super Eagles Technical Adviser.
Among those eyeing the Super Eagles job are former Senegal coach
Bruno Metsu, one-time Ghanaian coach Ratomir Djikovic, former
Sweden coach Lars Lagerback and Englishman Glenn Hoddle.
Those interviewed will be submitted to the NFF board, and vetted
by the Ministry of Sports, who will be partly responsble for the
new man's wages, before the new coach is named on February 26.
