NAFDAC BOSS BAGS INTERNATIONAL APPOINTMENT 

The Director-General of Nigeria’s Food and Drug Regulatory Agency, NAFDAC, Professor Dora Akunyili has been appointed a member of the Board of Directors of the Geneva-based Global alliance for Improved Nutrition, GAIN. 

Announcing the appointment, GAIN’s Executive director, Parc Van Ameringen said the appointment was in recognition of Akunyili’s immense contributions to food fortification. 

Ameringen said it was also in appreciation of her contribution in universal salt iodization and fight against malnutrition in Nigeria through effective regulatory activities. 

He said her addition to the board was highly valued and they looked forward to her contribution in board discussion. 

In her reaction, Professor Akunyili described her appointment as a mark of recognition for NAFDAC’s concerted efforts to rid the country of fake drugs and unwholesome foods.
