Muslims Celebrate Birthday Of Prophet Muhammad

Muslims joined there counterparts all over the world to mark
Eid-el-Maolud commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad. He was born
in 632AD in Mecca.
In different parts of the country,
Islamic groups organised public lectures on the significance and
contribution of Prophet Muhammad to salvation of mankind.
Imam Fuad Adeyemi of Al-Habibiyah Mosque
Wuse, Abuja the Nigerian capital spoke on the significance of the day.
He called on the Muslim Ummah to emulate
the lifestyle of Prophet in all their activities.
Tahajud (night prayers) and other open
prayer sessions were also observed prior to the celebrations on
Wednesday.
Goodwill Messages
Political, religious and traditional
leaders used the event to express goodwill messages to Nigerians
The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel
Odulana, in a message, urged the Muslim faithful to offer prayers for
peace in the state.
Similarly, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti
State, southwest Nigeria Dr. Sikiru Lawal, advised Nigerians to make
Prophet Muhammed their role model who, he said, lived an exemplary life.
The Federal Government had declared today
a public holiday to mark the historic event.
