The
National University Commission has granted full
accreditation status to the Kogi state University,
Anyingba, in Kogi state, Central Nigeria.
The Vice Chancellor of the
University, Professor Hassan Isah, announced this in
Lokoja while presenting the Commission’s
accreditation report on the university to the Kogi
State government.
He explained that the academic status
of the university has improved, following increased
government funding to the institution.
Professor Isah however appealed to
the National University Commission to work towards
improving Nigeria’s position in the global ranking
of world universities.
The federal government had directed
the federal ministry of education and the
Commission, to address the lingering problem of
accreditation of all the Nigerian Universities by
the year 2011 as demand for University education in
Nigeria continues to rise.
