Japan To Spend N11billion On Yar’Adua’s
7-Point Agenda

The
Japanese Government plans to spend more than N11billion to
assist Nigeria in the attainment of the Federal Government's
7-point agenda.
The Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr.
Toshitsugu Uesawa, made the announcement at a news conference in
Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He said N2.1 billion would be spent on education;
N3.5 billion on water and N6.1 billion on power.
Uesawa explained that the assistance, which was
without any conditionality, would givehope to the poor and
invest in the future of children.
He expressed optimism that wealth creation and
its distribution through education and employment, would create
confidence among the citizenry.
The envoy explained that the assistance would
facilitate spontaneous good governance and nation building.
He said Good governance and anti-corruption
crusade are not just mere goals,but are also effective tools for
achieving sustainable development.
Uesawa also announced that Japan would in May
host the fourth Tokyo International Conference on African
Development (TICAD).
