Kaduna To Set Up
Inland Dry Port
Kaduna state, Northern Nigeria, says it is set to partner with
the Federal Government for the establishment of an Inland Dry
Port.
Deputy Governor Patrick Yakowa, speaking at the ongoing 31st
Kaduna International Trade Fair, holding at the capital, Kaduna,
said that an Inland Dry Port would accelerate the state’s trade
and commerce.
Yakowa said that the state government had invested so much on
security to ensure peace and woo investors to the state.
A former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime
Administration and Safety Agency, Alhaji Munir Ja’afaru, said
there was the need for the agency to intensify its capacity
building in human and material resources.
He said the agency needed to evolve a better apparatus to combat
piracy in the nation’s territorial waters.
Yakowa said that combating the activities of pirates within the
nation’s shores would be the needed impetus for speedy
development of the maritime sector.
