State Governor Unveils Centenary Logo

The
Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime has unveiled
the centenary logo and lighting of centenary touch
or the 100 years celebration of Enugu, Nigeria’s
Coal city.
The event was witnessed by cross section of
political leaders in the south east of Nigeria. This
includes the Deputy Senate President, South East
Governors, some of the National Assembly members
from the South East, Ohaneze Ndigbo, notable past
Igbo leaders.

While unveiling the logo, Gov Sullivan Chime of
Enugu State called on all Nigerians to support the
centenary adding that the city had contributed so
much in the development and progress of Nigeria.
Chime said the event will focus attention on the
great potentials inherent in the state and will also
be used as an opportunity to showcase the new Enugu
especially during the under 17 FIFA world cup.
The Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, Chief Ike
Ekweremadu said that Enugu played a major role in
the political history of Nigeria.
In their goodwill messages the representatives of
the Governors of Imo and Ebonyi States Mr Jasper
Ukpoaku and Professor Chigozie Ogbu respectively
called for unity in Igbo land so that the region can
achieve its full potentials.
For the President -General of Ohaneze Ndigbo,
Ambassador Ralph Uwechie the dream of Ndigbo has
been actualized with the unveiling of the logo.
Uwechuie also said that Igbo is the biggest ethnic
group in Africa of about 50million and that Enugu is
a melting pot.
The Chairman of the Centenary Committee, Mr John
Nnia Nwodo said that the centenary light will go
round in search of the old and new leaders of the
nine states that made up the old Eastern Region.
