Lagos Hosts Regional Business Exhibition

The ECOWAS has advised business operators in the region to take advantage of the forthcoming ‘Nimaskar Africa 2010’ exhibition to explore better business relationship with their Indian counterparts.

Head of ECOWAS Business and Enterprises Promotion, Mr. Enobong Umoessien, in an interview, said that the exhibition would provide a platform for businessmen and women in West Africa to meet their Indian counterparts.

The business forum, scheduled for Lagos from 14th to 16th January would provide opportunities to discuss joint venture issues.

According to Umoessien, ’’the exhibition will be an exclusive platform for Indian and African companies to meet and identify potential areas of collaboration for the development of strategic partnerships.’’

The ECOWAS official said that the exhibition would also afford Indian companies opportunities to make inroads into the West African market.

He said that sectors that could attract attention at the exhibition would include healthcare and pharmaceuticals, information and communications technology, power, agrifood and allied services.

He listed others as roads and railways, housing and construction, financial services, engineering goods and automobiles.

The exhibition is organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the apex business chamber in India, in collaboration with the Indian Ministry of Commerce.
