Executive Council
Team To Visit Ailing Nigerian President
The
Executive Council of the Federation has constituted a six-man
team to visit ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua in Saudi Arabia.
The Minister of Information and Communications, Professor Dora
Akunyili, announced the council’s resolution after its weekly
meeting on Wednesday.
Delegation members
Members of the team include the Minister of Health, Professor
Babatunde Osotimehin, Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Sayyadi Ruma,
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Ojo Maduekwe and Minister of
Petroleum, Dr. Rilwanu Lukman.
The others are Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the
Federation, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode and the Secretary to the
Government of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed.
Professor Akunyili said: ’’Council constituted a six-man team
to go to Saudi Arabia to visit Mr President and his family...
The team will also convey a formal appreciation of the country
to the King of Saudi Arabia.’’
The team will leave for Saudi as soon visas are issued.

It is to be recalled that President Yar'Adua left Nigeria for
Saudi Arabia on November 23rd 2009 to attend to an ailment
disclosed by his physician as ‘acute pericarditis’, an
inflammation of the outer layers of the heart.
The House of Representatives, the ruling Peoples Democratic
Party and the Governors' Forum had earlier sent delegations to
Saudi to visit Yar'Adua.
It was reported that none of the three teams was able to see the
ailing President.
