U-17: Eaglets Qualify For
Finals, To Play Switzerland

Host and
defending champion, Golden Eaglets of Nigeria has defeated Spain by 3 goals to 1
to qualify against Switzerland in the finals of the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The Eaglets’ first goal was scored by striker Stanley Okoro, after beating the
Spain defence goalkeeper in the 31st minute.
Pressure
The game became more sizzling and
entertaining with the Spaniards making more attempts to equalise, but all their
efforts first half were doused by Nigeria's defensive network.
In the second half, the Eaglets accelerated their pace with better co-ordination
that saw striker Emmanuel Sani scoring twice in the 61st and 71st minutes to
seal the victory.
Striker Buja scored Spain's only goal of the match in the 83rd minute before
regulation time.

In the first semi-final match,
Switzerland beat Colombia four nil to qualify for the final match.
Colombia's defender, Santiago Arriars was given a straight red card in the 13th
minute for a foul on using his hand to stop a shot within the penalty box
leading to Switzerland's first goal through a penalty by Ben Kahija in the 14th
minute of play.
Sead Hajrovic scored the second goal in the 36th minute to give Switzerland the
lead before half time.
On resumption of 2nd half, Bruno Martigogni scored Switzerland's third goal in
the 58th minute while a corner kick that led to a goal mouth scramble gave
Ricardo Rodriguez the opportunity to score the 4th goal to secure Switzerland's
victory in the 58th minute.
With this result, Colombia faces Spain in the third place match while Nigeria
takes on Switzerland in the final.
Both matches will be played at the Abuja National Stadium on Sunday November
15th.
